Performance of the event went to the senior mens 4 x 200 relay team (Paddy Leyden, Gary Madden, Michael Kelly & Larry Arthur) who won the Munster Senior Relay by a whisker clocking a superb 1:53 for the 800m Derg AC also had their first female competitors with Rosie Foley doing brilliantly to win the Shot Putt competition and Catherine McKeogh finishing just outside the medals in the Sprint and LJ events. Michael Kelly put in his usual iron man performance winning Gold in 1500m & Silver in the 800m. Derg AC continued to shine in the middle distance events with Larry Arthur winning gold in the 1500m in a superb time and Gary Madden finishing 4th in the 800m. Patrick Minogue showed great promise in the Shott Putt finishing in 4th on his competition debut as did Brian O'Brien who stayed on strongly to secure a hard earned bronze medal in the 3000m and finished in 5th in the LJ.
