May 2015

In May 2015 Derg AC competed in the Clare Juvenile County Athletic championships. Derg AC young athletes produced some brilliant performances with a large medal haul and high placings to show at the end of the championships. This was huge improvement on 2014 which was our first track and field event. Results of Derg AC Juvenile Athletes below

Munster Track & Field 2015

June 2015

Joe Finn winning gold in U10 Long Jump setting a new PB in the process. Oisin Minogue won silver in the U11 Turbo Javelin setting a new PB and beating the old Munster record. Brendan Minogue won bronze in the U9 Turbo Javelin competition again setting a new PB.

All Ireland Schools 2015

June 2015

Dean Mulqueen won gold in the Schools All Ireland 80m hurdles in Tullamore. Dean had a tremendous race winning the All Ireland decisively. Dean is a superb, dedicated athlete and earned a well deserved All Ireland title.

Munsters U9–U12 Indoor Championships

7-8 March 2015: Gold and Bronze

Derg AC had 6 athletes competing in the Munster Athletics U9 to U12 Juvenile Indoor Championships with Brendan Minogue, Aoife Coleman, Glen Elliot, Joe Finn Oisin Minogue, Diarmuid Coleman competing over the two days. Joe Finn U10 was in tremendous form winning 2 medals in total. Joe won Gold in the Long Jump, Bronze in the 500m and advanced to the final in the 60m finishing 6th.

Brendan Minogue U9 finished 7th in the 300m final and also reached the semi final in the 60m sprint race and competed in the Long Jump. Oisin Minogue U11 advanced to the semi final of the 60m sprint race and performed strongly in the Long Jump. Other notable performances came from Aoife Coleman U9 in the Long Jump, Diarmuid Coleman U11 in the 600m and Glen Elliot in the 60m , 300m and Long Jump.

Munster U-13- U-19 Indoor Championships

28th Feb-1st Mar 2015

Derg AC had two athletes competing over the two days both of whom put in strong performances. Well done to Grainne Higgins who came 5th in the U15 60m Hurdle Final and Dean Mulqueen who was 5th in the final of the U16 60m hurdle and 5th in the final of the U16 60m Sprint race.

Munster Squad Performance Training

Congratulations to Dean Mulqueen who trained with the Munster performance squad during Mid-term a great to continue to devlop his talents over hurdles.
Well done to Dean Mulqueen who finished 2nd in the Junior Boys 60m Hurdle race at the Munster Schools Indoor Games during on 3rd of March.

Clare Juvenile Indoor Championships

On the day the team secured 3 medals with Gold for Joe Finn in the boys U10 long jump, Silver for Dean Mulqueen in the boys U17 60m hurdles and Bronze for Brendan Minogue in the boys U9 60m sprint race. Dean Mulqueen U17, Joe Finn U10 and David Goode U9 were also finalists in their respective 60m sprint competition. Eibhlis Coleman also competed in the final of the girls U13 60m Hurdle competition. Other notable performances for Derg AC were David Goode, Brendan Minogue, Tom Arthur, Matt Leyden, Aaron Lynch in the boys U9 500m race. Katie Mowat and Aoife Coleman ran strongly in the girls U9 60m and 500m races. Diarmuid Coleman, James Goode, Jennifer Daly and Keelin McNamara all set personal bests in their respective 600m race. Karen O’Mahony jumped well in the U11 Long Jump competition. Orlaith Gardiner U13 and Keith Libby U10 were to the fore in their respective 60m races.

Clare Juvenile Relays

Congratulations to our u8 boys team who ran a fantastic race in the Clare Inter club juvenile relays on Sunday Dec 14th. The team on the day was Brendan Minogue, Enda Tormey, Archie Mcnamara, David Goode, & Tom Arthur. Derg AC also fielded a team in the U10 boys race who ran a great race to finish in 7th place out of the 14 teams who competed in the race. The team was Cormac Byrne, Sean Tormey, Diarmuid Coleman, Oisin Minogue & James Goode

Cross Country 2014

Derg AC competed in the Patrick O'Dea Cross Country Competition in Lissycasey in November 2014. On a bright sunny morning the conditions were ideal for running and the team produced some of their best performances this year. In the U7 Boys race Enda Tormey (5th) and Tom Arthur (6th) ran great races to finish in the medals with Matt Leyden who recovered superbly from a nasty fall to finish just outside the medals with Cathal Whelan Carey finishing strongly just behind him. In the U8 Girls race Amy McCarthy ran a great race to finish 4th with Aoife Coleman & Siobhan McMahon also running strong races. Lauren Arthur (14th) and Karen O'Mahony (16th) ran great races finishing just outside the medals in the girls U10 race. The day finished on a high note in the U10 boys race with Paddy Bradley (3rd) and Diarmuid Coleman (4th) finishing in the medals with Sean Tormey running his best race this season in 14th
